We Are The World

4/16/2020

There comes a time when we heed a certain call
When the world must come together as one
There are people dying
And it's time to lend a hand to life
The greatest gift of all

We can't go on pretending day by day
That someone somewhere will soon make a change
We’re all a part of this great big family
And the truth, you know, Love is all we need

We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day so let's start giving
There's a choice we're making we're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day just you and me

Send'em your heart so they know that someone cares
And their lives will be stronger and free
As we all know, we all need food to live
And so we all must lend a helping hand

We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day so let's start giving
There's a choice we're making we're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day just you and me

When you're down and out there seems no hope at all
But if you just believe there's no way we can fall
Well, well, well, well let's realize that a change can only come
When we
Stand together as one
Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah

We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day so let's start giving
There’s a choice we're making we're saving our own lives
It’s true we'll make a better day just you and me
It's true we'll make a better day just you and me

Grandma's Featherbed

4/9/2020

When I was a wee little boy, just up off of the floor,
We used to go out to Grandma's house
Every month end or so.
We'd have chicken, pie, country ham
And homemade butter on the bread.
But the best darn thing about Grandma's house
Was the great big feather bed.

It was nine feet high, and six feet wide,
Soft as a downy chick
It was made from the feathers of forty-eleven geese,
Took a whole bolt of cloth for the tick.
It would hold eight kids and four hound dogs
And the piggy we stole from the shed.
We didn't get much sleep
But we had a lot of fun on Grandma's feather bed.

Well, after supper we'd sit around the fire, and the old folks bit the shoe.
Pa would talk about the farm and the war, and Granny'd sing a ballad or two.
I'd sit and listen and watch the fire till the cobwebs filled my head,
The next thing I'd know I'd wake up in the morning
in the middle of that old feather bed.

Well I love my Ma and I love my Pa,
I love Granny and Grandpa too.
I’ve been fishing with my uncle,
I wrestled with my cousin
And I even kissed Aunt Lou, ew!
But if I ever had to make a choice,
Well I guess it oughta be said
That I'd trade 'em all plus the gal down the road
For Grandma's feather bed.

We didn't get much sleep
But we had a lot of fun on Grandma's feather bed.

Good Fish Chowder

4/9/2020

Jerry Mulligan came to see me
Dropped his hat in the chowder pot
Put it on as he was leaving
Said my word, it’s getting hot (2x)

chorus:
Good fish chowder, good clam chowder
Makes you want to cry for more
Fills you up from your top to your toenails
Makes you hear the oceans roar (2x)

Five fat shrimp behind his earlobes
Four fat squid with forty toes
Six fat oysters, eight fat scallops
Hanging from his hair and nose (2x)  chorus

He turned to me as he was leaving
Said goodbye as he shook my hand
Just as a wave came down his shirtsleeve
Left me holding a ton of sand (2x)  chorus

Good clam chowder, good fish chowder
Has anybody seen my shoe
Nancy dropped it in the chowder
I was saving it for the stew (2x)  chorus

Mrs. Murphy's Chowder

Won’t you bring back, won’t you bring back
Mrs. Murphy’s chowder
It was tuneful, every spoonful,
Made you yodel louder
After dinner Uncle Ben, used to fill his fountain pen
From a bowl of Mrs. Murphy’s chowder

There was: Ice cream, cold cream, benzene, gasoline
Soup beans, string beans, floating all around,
Sponge cake, beef steak, mistake, stomach-ache
Cream puffs, ear muffs many to be found
Silk hats, door mats, bed slats, democrats,
Cow bells, door bells, beckon you to dine,
Meat balls, fish balls, moth balls canon balls,
Come on in, the chowder’s fine.

Won’t you bring back, won’t you bring back
Mrs. Murphy’s chowder
It was tuneful, every spoonful,
Made you yodel louder
If they had it where you are, you might find a motor car
In a bowl of Mrs. Murphy’s chowder

There was: Ice cream, cold cream, benzene, gasoline
Soup beans, string beans, floating all around,
Sponge cake, beef steak, mistake, stomach-ache
Cream puffs, ear muffs many to be found
Silk hats, door mats, bed slats, democrats,
Cow bells, door bells, beckon you to dine,
Meat balls, fish balls, moth balls canon balls,
Come on in, the chowder’s fine.

10 Little Apples

Ten little apples, hanging from the tree
The juiciest apples you ever did see
The wind came past and gave an angry frown
And one little apple came tumbling down.

Country Life

4/9/2020

I like to rise when the sun she rises,
early in the morning
And I like to hear the small birds singing,
Merrily upon their layland
And hurrah for the life of a country kid,
And to ramble in the new mown hay.

In spring we sow at the harvest mow
And that is how the seasons round they go
But of all the times, if choose I may,
I’d be rambling in the new mown hay.

I like to rise when the sun she rises,
early in the morning
And I like to hear the small birds singing,
Merrily upon their layland
And hurrah for the life of a country kid,
And to ramble in the new mown hay.

In summer when the sun is hot
We sing, and we dance, and we play a lot
We spend all night in sport and play
And go rambling in the new mown hay

I like to rise when the sun she rises,
early in the morning
And I like to hear the small birds singing,
Merrily upon their layland
And hurrah for the life of a country kid,
And to ramble in the new mown hay.

I thought I heard the Old Man say,
John Kanaka-naka tu-lai-e!
Today, today is a holiday!
John Kanaka-naka tu-lai-e!
Tu-lai-e!, oh, tu-lai-e!
John Kanaka-naka tu-lai-e!

We'll work tomorrow but no work today,
John Kanaka-naka, tulai-e!
Today, today is a holiday,
John Kanaka-naka, tulai-e!
Tulai-e, oh! tulai-e!
John Kanaka-naka, tulai-e!

We're bound away for Frisco Bay,
John Kanaka-naka tulai-e!
We're bound away at the break of day.
John Kanaka-naka tulai-e!
Tulai-e, oh! tulai-e!
John Kanaka-naka, tulai-e!

A Yankee ship with a Yankee crew,
John Kanaka-naka tulai-e!
Oh we're the ones for to push her through.
John Kanaka-naka tulai-e!
Tulai-e, oh! tulai-e!
John Kanaka-naka, tulai-e!

Oh, haul away, oh, haul away!
John Kanaka-naka tulai-e!
Oh, haul away, an' make your pay!
John Kanaka-naka tulai-e!
Tulai-e, oh! tulai-e!
John Kanaka-naka, tulai-e!

She'll be Coming 'Round the Mountain

4/9/2020

She’ll be coming ‘round the mountain when she comes-toot, toot!

She’ll be ridin’ 6 white horses when she comes-whoa back!

And we’ll all go out to greet her when she comes-hi there!

She’ll be wearing red pajamas when she comes-scratch, scratch!

And we’ll all have chicken and dumplings when she comes-yum, yum!

And she’ll have to sleep with Grandma when she comes-snore, snore!

She’ll be coming ‘round the mountain when she comes-toot, toot!

I Fell in Love with Broccoli

4/9/2020

I fell in love before, with a candy bar
Its name was snickers, it was so sweet
It was a little bit nutty, but I’ll tell you buddy
I thought it would make my life complete
But then I got hyper and I crashed
And my skin developed a rash and my teeth began to rot
So I looked snickers in the eyes and said
“You said this was real love, oh, but it’s not.” Oh no it’s not.

I once gave my whole heart to soda, to a can of coca cola
It was bubbly, it was sweet
It was a star on TV, always crying out for me
I thought it would make my life complete
But then I got hyper and I crashed
And I spent all my extra cash, and my teeth began to rot
So I looked coca cola in the eyes and said
“You said this was real love, oh, but it’s not.” Oh no it’s not.
I was so lonely and I felt none of my relationships working out
I was hungry for real love you see
So I got in my car and I drove to the salad bar
And who do you think I saw in front of me? Ohhh

It was so beautiful, it was so natural
The most wonderful thing I ever did see
With frizzy green hair, and a nutrient rich shirt
I fell in love with broccoli

I love you broccoli, I love you broccoli
You are so good for me, I love you broccoli

I love you broccoli, I love you broccoli

Puff the Magic Dragon

4/9/2020

Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist
In a land called Honah Lee,
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist
In a land called Honah Lee,

Little Jackie paper loved that rascal puff,
And brought him strings and sealing wax
And other fancy stuff. oh

Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist
In a land called Honah Lee,
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist
In a land called Honah Lee.

Together they would travel
On a boat with billowed sail
Jackie kept a lookout perched
On puffs gigantic tail,
Noble kings and princes
Would bow whenever they came,
Pirate ships would lower their flag
When puff roared out his name. oh!

Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist
In a land called Honah Lee,
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
